John E. Somerville will be honored as a past "Legend of Commerce" at the 125th Anniversary Celebration of the Green Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.
The celebration will take place at the Regency Suites/KI Convention Center.

John E. Somerville was recognized in 1994 by Governor Tommy Thompson for his outstanding service as a member of the Wisconsin Council on Main Street for the revitalization and preservation in De Pere. He was also past president of the Green Bay YMCA and the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce. He was one of the founding members of the Coordinating Committee on Higher Education (CCHE) for his effort and site selection of the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He was also active as a past president of the Optimist Club of Green Bay and president of the Board of Directors for Oneida Golf and Riding Club in Green Bay.

Some notable projects during his tenure include: the original Lambeau Field, Brown County Veterans Arena, Expo Hall (Shopko Hall), Neville Public Museum, Paper Converting Machine CO., Bellin Hospital, Southwest High School, Wisconsin Public Service corporate offices, First United Presbyterian Church of De Pere.
